The Role

Inclusion Education is launching a new specialist school for young people aged 11–16 with chronic mental health needs and neurodiversity, opening in January 2026. We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Assistant to join our new provision’s founding team. You will play a vital role in supporting students to access learning, build confidence, and develop the skills they need to thrive—academically, socially, and emotionally.

You’ll be part of a close, supportive team working to engage young people who have struggled to access education due to anxiety, trauma, and other barriers, using empathy, nurture, and patience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored one-to-one and small group support to students with SEND, helping them engage with learning and daily routines.
  • Support students with emotional regulation and behaviour, using trauma-informed and restorative approaches.
  • Assist with academic tasks, including organising materials, supporting literacy and numeracy, and encouraging independent learning.
  • Implement and contribute to personalised support plans, working closely with teachers and therapists to meet individual needs.
  • Promote positive relationships and social skills, encouraging respectful peer interactions and inclusive group dynamics.
  • Promote wellbeing through practical, timely, and appropriate interventions.
  • Monitor and record student progress and wellbeing, maintaining accurate and confidential notes.
  • Communicate regularly with teaching staff and the wider team, sharing observations and contributing to reviews and planning.
  • Support safeguarding and wellbeing, following school policies and raising concerns appropriately.
  • Contribute to a safe, nurturing, and inclusive school environment, aligned with the values of Inclusion Education and “The Inclusion Way”.

Diversity Statement

Inclusion Education recognises and values the enriching contribution which people from a range of backgrounds and experiences can bring to the life and development of the Organisation. We therefore aim to provide a service which, in its teaching, administration and support services, actively promotes equality of opportunity and freedom from discrimination on grounds of age, cultural background, disability, ethnicity, gender, religion or sexual orientation.
